The 49ers’ eight 2019 draft picks got their jersey numbers Monday.

Bosa will get the No. 97 he wore in college. That number belonged to his dad and brother in the NFL as well. Dekoda Watson wore it last season, but San Francisco sent him to Denver in a trade on Day 3 of the draft.

Samuel and Hurd, the two wide receivers, went with numbers in the teens rather than one in the 80s. They each wore a single digit in college. Samuel wore No.  1 while Hurd wore No. 5 in his lone season at Baylor.

The rookies numbers are subject to change once the roster is officially cut down and more numbers become available. They will become official after the 53-man roster is finalized.

First year players don’t typically have claim to a number the same way a veteran might, so don’t expect any rookies to try and make a play for a number already occupied by a veteran.  They’ll only change numbers if a number they prefer is vacated during roster cuts.

In other number news,  Dee Ford officially claimed No. 55, while Pita Taumoepenu scooped up No.  50. Those very likely won’t change.
