Reuben Foster’s ex-girlfriend, Elissa Ennis, went on Good Morning America on Thursday to tell her side of what happened the night Foster was arrested for domestic battery at a Tampa hotel.

The full video is here via ABC’s Twitter account:

Ennis told ABC that she was at the hotel after an invite from Foster so the two could work on their relationship. She said a threat to tell Foster’s new girlfriend about the visit set off the attack.

Foster took one of her phones, then slapped and pushed Ennis in her telling. Those actions were also noted in the police report.

She also implied the 49ers tried to interfere in the arrest, saying the team was trying to discredit her story.

“I felt like they didn’t believe me even when I called the police the 49ers came up there,” she said in the interview. “I have pictures of the 49ers coming up there trying to talk to the police and say I’m the same ex-girlfriend that sat up there and lied.”

The 49ers released a statement, via NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco, denying any attempted interference during the arrest:

“The 49ers fully cooperated with authorities, assisted in locating Mr. Foster and in no way impeded their investigation.”

Ennis recanted her story in court earlier this year about an assault by Foster in February. Charges were dropped after Ennis admitted to lying. Now, she says her lie in court was a lie borne of love.

“I loved him,” she said.”And love will have you doing things that’s not in your best interest.”

Foster was released hours after his arrest, just ahead of the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Buccaneers. He was claimed off waivers by Washington – the only team to put a waiver claim on him.

“I can’t believe somebody picked him up,” Ennis said. “And I just couldn’t believe somebody picked him up in less than – how many hours – like, I was shocked.”

The 24-year-old linebacker is on the Commissioner’s Exempt list as his charges in Tampa are settled. An arraignment is scheduled for January 3 according to Maiocco.

Foster has not spoken since the arrest.
