Former 49ers offensive lineman Jonathan Martin, who was the victim of a bullying scandal with the Miami Dolphins in 2013, was taken into custody Friday after posting a disturbing picture on social media threatening the use of a gun, as first reported by Matt Stone of ABC News.

The school tagged in the photo, Harvard-Westlake High School in Studio City, Calif., was closed for the day due to a “security risk” according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.

Martin attended the high school and tagged #HarvardWestLake in the photo. Martin wrote on the picture on his Instagram story: “When you’re a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide, or revenge”

It’s unclear if Martin’s picture was the reason for the school’s closure. The picture came from Martin’s Instagram account that is private but verified. It tagged Richie Incognito, the teammate accused of bullying Martin with the Dolphins.

Martin played one season with the 49ers in 2014 making nine starts filling in at right tackle. That was the final season of then-coach Jim Harbaugh who coached Martin at Stanford.

Sensitivity to gun violence in schools across the country has been heightened after a mass killing Feb. 14 in Parkland, Florida claimed the lives of 17 people.
